What to Expect
.) When you join our waitlist we expect you to reach out to us periodically to check in, be that via email or by being active with us on social media. This lets us know that you are serious about getting a kitten from us. We send out occasional check-in emails to our waitlist members every 3-6 months to make sure that you would like to remain on our waitlist, and to confirm if you are ready to be offered a kitten from upcoming litters. When these check-in messages go out we expect you to reply or else we reserve the right to remove you from our list and if you reach out later you will be bumped down the list. As we do not charge a fee to join our waitlist, this ensures that we do not waste time offering kittens to people who have chosen to go with other breeders, adopt from shelters, don’t have the funds to pay for a kitten, etc.
.) We announce when litters are born on social media and try to post weekly updates about them as they grow. However, we do not offer kittens to anyone until they are 8 weeks old and have seen the veterinarian. This allows us to monitor their physical development and temperament and make sure they are healthy prior to being offered to anyone. Once kitten offers go out, we require a $500 non-refundable deposit to reserve the kitten. Responses to kitten offers must be received in a timely manner, or the kitten that was offered may be offered to another home.
.) Kittens typically go home no earlier than 14 weeks. This allows for proper socialization for your kitten with their mother, siblings and us, and makes sure that they are physically weaned and litter box trained prior to leaving the cattery. It also allows for the kittens to develop immunity from their vaccinations. Don’t worry, this does not inhibit the bonding you will experience with your kitten, and actually helps reduce problematic behaviours cats can exhibit after the stress of early weaning such as excessive grooming and aggression.
.) Kittens are spayed or neutered prior to going home with no exceptions. If you would like more information about spay and neuter under 6 months of age for cats please click here or here. Importantly, cats are different than dogs and show no ill effects from pediatric spay/neuter, especially in small breeds such as the Bombay and Burmese. In addition, this removes the risks that come from a cat being left intact, such as uterine infection, inappropriate marking/urination, and unwanted pregnancy.
.) Kittens receive at minimum their first 2 sets of FVRCP vaccinations. If required, such as for kittens going to the US or overseas, the kitten will receive their rabies vaccination at an additional charge. Kittens are also dewormed prior to leaving the cattery. Vaccinations are performed by a veterinarian and records will be provided.
.) Kittens will be microchipped prior to leaving the cattery and the microchip information will be provided to you. You will be provided instructions on how to add yourself as a contact on your kittens microchip. Purranormal also remains listed as a contact number on your cat, as assurance that your kitten can find its way back to you/us if it ever gets lost.
.) We offer 4 or 6 weeks of trial pet insurance through either Trupanion or Petsecure depending on if you are in Canada or the US.
.) We offer a health guarantee, detailed in our kitten contract and we encourage you to reach out if you would like an advance copy.
.) We provide lifetime breeder support. When you get a kitten from us you become part of our extended family. We always want to know how they are doing, and are happy to support you if any questions arise throughout their lifetime.
.) Kittens will go home with registration papers from a recognized cat registration body such as TICA, CCA or ACFA. Which association depends on their parents/pedigree.
.) Kittens go home with a kitten kit. This includes a folder of their documents (registration, vaccination and other vet records, microchip information), kitten care info packets, a blanket that smells like our house and their mother/litter mates, as well as some toys. In addition, we send home kittens with a small amount of food from Royal Canin which includes a $40 coupon (Canadian residents only) you can use to purchase a free bag of the kibble they have been eating with us.
.) We are not a business. We are individuals with full time jobs in addition to running our cattery. This is our hobby and our passion. We only produce as many kittens as we can handle, and this is generally not enough to meet demand - because of this we virtually always have a waitlist, both for kittens and retired adults.
.) Contact us directly for a price quote. Please note that the price you are quoted at the time you join the waitlist, and at the time you are offered a kitten may change. Bombay and Burmese have different price points which reflect the rarity of the breed and the additional costs required to maintain a healthy genetic diversity.
