Bringing Home Your New Kitten

Prior to bringing your new kitten home we recommend you set up a “base camp” for them. This looks like choosing one room in your house, often a bedroom or bathroom, that allows you to close the door while having everything they need (food, water, a bed, litter box, some toys, a small cat tree if space allows) into that space. This allows for them to get used to the new sounds and smells of your home without being overwhelmed by all the new space. This is especially important if you have other cats or dogs in the house, as you need to quarantine your kitten from these other animals for 2 weeks or it will void our health guarantee.

Going to a new home is a stressful time for kittens and can often make them susceptible to upper respiratory infections. They may also struggle with eating normally for the first few days in a new home. Because of this, we require all our kittens to see the vet within one week of going to their new home. Failure to do this, also voids our health guarantee. We recommend you book this vet appointment as soon as you reserve your kitten in order to avoid delay. It is also very normal for a kitten to cry when first coming home, as this is their first time apart from their mother and siblings, and it is very confusing for them. Help them by providing reassurance and love in their new space.
