Cat Care

Our kittens are fed a high quality diet of Royal Canin wet and dry food, as well as a few other brands such as Tiki, Weruva, and Purina Proplan. All cats require a diet high in moisture to support their renal health and because of this we recommend feeding canned food daily. We also strongly recommend that you have a water fountain for your cat, as moving water generally entices cats to drink more.

We do not recommend feeding a raw diet at this time due to the risk of H5N1 avian influenza contamination that has been seen in commercial raw pet foods, and an even be present in uncooked human grade meats. This infection is deadly for cats and not worth the risk of eating uncooked meat.

Our kittens are used to using hardwood pine pellets for litter. This litter can easily be used as part of the breeze litter system if you choose. This litter is a very inexpensive option, and healthier than using clay. However, if you have another litter such as silica, paper, clay, etc that you already use for another cat in your household, or want to switch to an alternative due to lack of storage you can easily transition them to different litter by slowly mixing less and less wood pellets into your goal litter over their first week or two home. If you request, we can send you home with some pine pellets to help with this transition.

Speaking of litter boxes, the general rule of thumb is that you should have at least one litter box for each cat in your home, plus one, and it is recommended that you scoop these boxes daily. This helps reduce the risk of inappropriate urination in your kitten.
